No one on her has noticed why Murphy's form has dipped. He is being paid the greatest compliment.

Let me enlighten you. Pullis noticed how our offensive game hinges on Murphy- most things come through him- and man marked him with Tuncay when Stoke lost the ball. Murphy was neutered. Most teams since have done the same. The picture over here isnt great but I think it was Cohen doing it yesterday. End result is that Murphy has no time on the ball and is rushing.

Up to Woy to work out a way to combat this and in the meantime Murphy to find some sort of solution.

As I've been saying for a month or two Wayne, he physically cannot compete in the Premier League, it's obvious Roy isn't going to change his tactics to release Murphy so it's up to him to be physically up to the challenge to compete and at nearly 33 he cannot, it's time for him to be left out of the side for away games.

At this time in his career Danny is ideally suited to Serie A and La Liga football.

The only thing with Murphy is that he only plays with players who he feels like playing. Here are the best partnerships:

Murphy - Etuhu
Greening - Baird
Andranik with anyone ;)

We need either another creative midfielder to take the pressure off Murphy and so be able to mix it up or a real midfield enforcer to protect him. I agree with the comment re-Dixon - last year Dixon broke things up so that Murphy could pick up the ball and do the playmaker's role. Baird/greening have done a stirling role in Dixon's absence but we are becoming a team of seperate defence, midfield and attack with no one joining the three together. It hasn't helped losing both full backs as we are slower and this allows teams to spend time picking up murphy.

I felt Fulham were playing some of their best football when Murphy and Baird were partnered.

when everyone is fit, and we are playing the ball on the floor, Murtphy is the catalyst to our offense. I have noticed when he is bereft of ideas, he begins to attempt the hopeful/spectacular passes. when our offense is flowing smoothly, his passes are deftly akin to putting the king in checkmate with a pawn.

It's not really about fitness of the team, it's about tactics.
As Wayne correctly pointed out, opposition teams are now targeting Smurf, and time and time again he's being mugged in midfield that not only (obviously) breaks down any attack of ours, but then leaves our defence open to being attacked.

If We cannot change the tactics and try to avoid Smurf for a while, then we will be in the same boat as we have been for the past month, and it won't matter how good a striker pairing we have up front, they will never get to see the ball, as it won't get further than midfield.

Greening and Baird would do the trick, for a game or two, and rest Smurf. The problem is Smurf won't have that, as he is a fighter and a total professional, with a lot of pride.

We should try to pick up Jonathan de Guzman of feyenoord for a free this summer. Should be our answer to this problem!

roy is ridgid with that 442 formation. i agree with colin on this one, murphy is fine when we dictate play and teams sit back, we may see that tonight.

but anyone who watched the games at wolves, blackburn, stoke and spurs saw murphy all too easily ran off the ball and bullied without any back up. away from home, i would play digakoi and etuhu

a bit left field - where did that come from?

Isn't Dickson Etuhu back now? I thought his strength in the middle would give Danny more help and was playing really well prior to his trip tothe African Cup. So hopefully he come back and repeat the form.

He used to play central midfield in a attacking role, amazing creative player when he's fit.

On another note: Vlaar, should be a good buy as well. Dutch international central defender. he will be cheap(£1M/2M) and would be a good replacement for Smalling.

The goals against us in Turin were all conceded through our mistake, we could take heart from that.

I have watched Fulham since 1958 and have never seen them perform with such flow, skill and dominance over a "better" team.   Even the early goal only made the mountian higher and the final victory all the sweeter.   The three open play goals were al…
