Why swap a striker for a midfielder and then defend. The whole game changed for us when Pogrebnyak came off.

Do you really think throwing Trotta on today would be good for him or us? It would've been similar to bringing Ruiz on against Blackburn.

This is a prime example of why we need a few target men. If you play with one up front the player needs to hold it up. Sa could've done a job today. Has Trotta ever played the lone front man, is he a target man?

Not sure if he's ever played as a lone striker.
He would have been better than having midfielders up front though. We need more than one striker who can hold the ball up.

Yes we really do. Hopefully Sa will be back soon, he has done a half decent job when in the mood. I think Dempsey is a bit underrated at holding the ball up though, if you lump it on to his head he'll lose it but play it to feet and he's strong enough to keep it and will probably win a free kick.

Another baffling move. Would have been a perfect time to give Trotta a chance being up 2 with 30 minutes left. But Jol returned to playing defense again and it nearly cost us. He obviously has no faith in him, so Trotta must really be screwing up in training. Maybe he took a penalty without permission in practice, so he'll never see the field again.

I think Jol got that one right. It would've been a real baptism of fire throwing Trotta on against Shawcross and Wilkinson.

Agreed, Jol often tells us the youngsters aren't pushing the established players hard enough for places but refuses to let them have much of a go. Baffled!

We should give Trotta a chance but I dont think it was the sort of game or scernario to have taken a gamble on him. Davies is very experienced and always does a good job when on.

We needed to be three up for trotta. I thought the change was unfortunate but worked Ok. The thing is Pog is a real forward making good runs and angles. Clint is not that and plays much better from deeper.

As said in previous posts we had a good shape until Pogs went off. As soon as that happened i would of pulled Ruiz. We needed someone who would hold the ball and at lease challenge for a couple of headers. IM starting to feel like Ruiz is not offering enough to the team to warrant a place in it. Would of left Murphy on and swapped Ruiz for Dixon and moved Dembele out wide. Sorry to bang on about Ruiz but he is far to light weight. When he has the ball there is no conviction. When he doesnt have it he rarely closes down and cannot win a tackle! With him on the pitch i feel we are down to 10 men for the majority of the game.
