This thread implies Simon is a defender when clearly he's an experienced winger with good defensive capabilities whose scored many important goals for us? The changes which happened and the resulting pressure were because we had to lose our out and out striker and the changes Pulis made. Trotta is still young with much to learn. Bringing him on would not have given us the options end to end we had.

Trotta is the only other fit forward we have so was the obvious choice as first sub, so as I have said before Jol does not fancy him. His idea of reducing the age of the squad is not working as he does not risk playing the youngster. When we were under pressure in the second half Frei would have been a good sub to occupy Stoke like he did Arsenal.

I did not understand the move when Jol did it. It is not like Davies is in form right now. I thought he was the worse player in the WBA game. Once again he was not effective. I therefore don't know why Jol likes him so much. If Jol wanted to hold the lead when the switch was made, why didn't he put in Baird?

I thought good decision. IMO it was not the time to introduce a youngster.....we were 2 up against a physical side and we needed to protect that.....which became slight;ly desperate in the end! Davies has the experience to deal with that. Admiteddly he did f*** all when he came on but i can see why Jol sent him on.

Good decision. Trotta, despite scoring like a maniac in League 1, cannot be tested like this on his own up front. Bringing Davies on meant Dempsey could go up front and then Ruiz came off for Baird because his defending hasn't been good. This meant we could defend against Stoke's visible physical onslaught....
